Our fire wall partition testing, inspection and compliance services provide independent technical assessment of compartment walls, ensuring they achieve the fire resistance required by the building’s fire strategy and relevant British and European Standards.

We assess partition systems against the requirements of BS EN 1364-1 for non-loadbearing walls and BS EN 1365 for loadbearing wall systems, with fire resistance classifications determined in accordance with BS EN 13501-2. These classifications are expressed as EI30, EI60, EI90 or EI120, measuring both the wall’s Integrity (E) - its ability to prevent the passage of flames and hot gases - and Insulation (I) - its ability to limit heat transfer to the non-fire side of the compartment.

 

Fire performance relies on every component being installed exactly as specified within the manufacturer’s tested construction. This includes the stud framework, board type and thickness, cavity insulation, fixing centres, joint treatments, perimeter seals, deflection head details and all supporting construction.

We also inspect every penetration and interface within the partition system. Services such as pipework, electrical containment, HVAC ducts and cable trays must be protected using tested fire-stopping systems that maintain the fire resistance of the compartment wall. Particular attention is given to wall junctions, movement joints, ceiling interfaces and service penetrations, as these are common areas where compartmentation failures occur.
